SelfieHue works with photos of faces, so this page starts with the photos. In short: the free analysis happens in your browser and your photo is not uploaded; a hair try-on does send your photo to make the image, and we do not keep the photo; results are deleted after 24 hours unless you choose to keep them.
Photos and facial data
Color analysis, face shape and attractiveness test
These tools open your photo in your own browser. A face-landmark model that is loaded from our site runs on your device, finds points on your face, measures proportions and reads the color of your skin, hair and eyes. For the free result, the photo and the points never leave your device and nothing is stored on our servers.
Your browser keeps a copy of the photo for the current tab only, so you can open another tool without choosing the photo again. It is gone when you close the tab. Your browser also remembers your last face shape and color season so the try-on tools can suggest matching styles. You can clear both by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Detailed reports
When you buy a detailed report, your browser sends us a short list of numbers, not your photo: a few ratios (for example face length to width, or the angle of the jaw) and up to three colors (skin, hair, eyes). Our server works out the facts of the report from these numbers and sends the numbers to an AI text model that writes the advice. The report and the numbers it was written from are stored with your account.
Hairstyle try-on and hair color changer
- Your photo is sent to our server when you press the generate button, not before.
- An automated check looks at the photo first. It refuses photos that show nudity, a young child, no face, or more than one person. A refused photo is not used and you are not charged.
- The photo is then sent to an image model, which returns the same photo with new hair.
- We do not store the photo you upload. It is held in memory for the length of the request. We instruct the image provider not to retain what we send or what it returns, and to delete the generated file from its delivery network within one hour.
- The generated image is saved in private storage that has no public address. You see it through a link that expires after one hour.
When results are deleted
- Generated images and reports can no longer be opened 24 hours after they were made. A daily cleanup then erases them, and a storage rule erases any file that is still there after 48 hours.
- You can delete any result at once from My results in your account.
- If you are signed in you can choose to keep a result. It then stays until you delete it or close your account. Only results can be kept, never the photo you uploaded.
- Without an account you get 2 free try-on images a day. They are not saved to any account and the files are erased by the same storage rule.
What we do not do
- We do not use your photos, measurements or results to train AI models.
- We do not identify people. We do not run facial recognition, and we do not create or keep a face template or faceprint that could be used to recognize you in another photo.
- We do not sell or rent your photos or data.
Other information we collect
- Account: when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture.
- Purchases: payments are handled by Stripe. We receive a record of the order (what was bought, the amount, the status) and never your full card number.
- Credits and results: your balance, the history of credits spent and refunded, and the results in your account until they are deleted.
- Fair-use signals: to give free credits once per person and to count free uses per day, we use your IP address and a signal derived from your device. The daily counters for visitors without an account store a hashed form of the IP address and reset every day.
- Technical logs: like most sites, our hosting keeps short-lived logs of requests (IP address, browser, page, time) for security and debugging.
- Where visits come from: when you arrive from another site, we count which kind of source it was (a search engine, an AI assistant, a social network, another site), the country and the page you landed on. Your IP address is not stored for this, only a hashed form that changes every day, so one visitor is counted once.
- Messages: what you send us by email or through the feedback form.
How we use it
- To run the tools, deliver results and keep your account and credits correct.
- To process payments and handle refunds where they apply.
- To prevent abuse of free uses and of the service.
- To answer your messages and send essential account emails.
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages and tools are used, so we can improve them.
Who processes data for us
We share data only with the services that are needed to run SelfieHue, and only what each one needs:
- An image model provider (fal), which receives the photo and your choice of style or color for a try-on.
- An AI model gateway (OpenRouter, with models from Google), which receives the photo for the automated check before a try-on, and the numbers for a detailed report.
- Cloudflare, which stores generated images in private storage.
- Neon, which hosts our database, and Upstash, which holds the daily counters.
- Vercel, which hosts the site.
- Stripe, for payments, and Google, for sign-in and for visit statistics (Google Analytics).
These services are located mainly in the United States, so your data may be processed outside your country. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work: keeping you signed in, remembering your choices and protecting forms. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used; it sets its own cookies and receives your IP address and browser details. We may show ads through Google AdSense. Advertising partners, including Google, use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google's ad settings. Where the law requires consent for these cookies, we ask for it first.
Photos, measurements and results are never shared with analytics or advertising services.
Your choices and rights
- Delete any result yourself from My results, at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything in it, by writing from the email address of your account.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California) you may have further rights, such as to object to certain processing or to complain to your data protection authority. We do not sell personal information.
Children
SelfieHue is for people aged 13 and over. Do not use it, and do not upload photos of children, if you or they are younger than that. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Generated images are kept in private storage and reached only through short-lived links. No system is perfectly secure, so we also keep as little as we can, for as short a time as we can.
Changes
When we change how we handle data we update this page and its date. If a change is significant we will say so on the site.
