Best AI Color Analysis and Hairstyle Try-On Tools in 2026: 8 Compared

Written by the team behind SelfieHue, which is one of the eight tools below. We read each tool's own pages and store listing on October 19, 2026, and we say plainly where others win. We did not upload photos to the other tools, so this is not a ranking of picture quality.

The short answer

  • Everything in one place, in a browser: SelfieHue (color season, face shape, hairstyle, hair color and beard on one photo) is the only web tool we read that does all of it. It is not free for try-ons beyond 2 a day.
  • Everything in an iPhone or Android app: Get The Look covers face shape, hairstyle, hair color, beards, makeup and outfits, but its price is shown only in the app.
  • Completely free and private: faceshapedetector.app costs nothing and runs on your device, but its hairstyle try-on is an overlay, not a photorealistic AI picture.
  • Color season only, cheaply: Harmony has a one-time $14.99 unlock on iPhone, and aicoloranalysis.io sells reports for $0.30 each in a credit pack.
  • A fast free hair or color preview without an account: Krea says so on its page.
  • A big, established mobile editor: YouCam Makeup, with more than 155,000 App Store ratings.

How we compared them

We opened each tool's own web page or App Store listing and read what it says about what it does, what it costs, whether you need an account or an app, and where your photo goes. We wrote down only what we read. Where a price or limit did not show up, the table says not read. We did not buy any subscription, upload a photo to a competitor or test accuracy, so we do not claim that any tool is more accurate than another. Prices are US dollars and change often.

Each tool in detail

SelfieHue

SelfieHue is a website. You upload one selfie, and the same photo carries from the color analysis to the face shape detector to the hairstyle, hair color and beard try-ons. The analysis runs in your browser. Try-ons are made by an image model that edits only the hair or the beard, from a fixed library of 26 haircuts, 27 hair colors and 12 beard styles.

Where it wins: one website covers color season, face shape and try-ons; no app; the analysis is free with no sign-up; credits do not expire. Where others win: it has no glasses or makeup try-on, no iPhone or Android app, and no star ratings or press reviews yet. Try-ons are not unlimited: after 2 a day you need credits. See one selfie, three answers and the pricing page.

Get The Look

Get The Look says it finds your face shape and then shows hairstyles, hair colors, beards, makeup, salon looks and outfits. Its App Store page shows 4.0 out of 5 from 13 ratings, and it was released in March 2026. Where it wins: it covers more try-on types than any web tool here, including makeup and outfits, and its site lets you read a sample report before you download. Where it loses: you need the app, and we could not read what it costs. The price is shown inside the app.

Harmony: Color Analysis AI

Harmony is an iPhone app for a color season and a beauty report. Its listing offers a one-time lifetime unlock for $14.99 and an optional Harmony Plus subscription for $4.99 a month. Where it wins: one payment and no recurring cost if you only want the report. Where it loses: iPhone only, and it states that your selfie is sent to analysis providers. We read no hairstyle try-on feature in its listing. Its store listing was first released in May 2026, and the page we read showed no ratings.

YouCam Makeup

YouCam Makeup, from Perfect Corp, is a large photo editor with makeup, hair, face and body tools. It has been on the App Store since 2014 with a 4.74 average from more than 155,000 ratings. Where it wins: brand trust and scale, no other tool here comes close. Where it loses: it is a general photo editor, not a color season and face shape analyzer in one flow, and we could not read the Premium price.

Fotor

Fotor has an AI hairstyle changer and a buzz cut filter among many photo tools. Its pricing page lists Pro, Pro+ and Max subscription plans, but the page we read showed dashes where the prices and credits should be, so we cannot quote a price. Where it wins: a very broad set of editing tools in one place. Where it loses: we could not confirm what is free, and hairstyle is one tool among many, not a flow built around your face shape or color season.

Krea

Krea has a hairstyle and hair color changer page that says you can try as many looks as you want for free, with no sign-up and no credit card. It accepts PNG, JPEG, WebP, HEIC and HEIF files. Krea also sells paid plans for its other tools; we did not read their prices. Where it wins: the clearest "free, no account" promise of the web tools here, and it accepts iPhone HEIC photos. SelfieHue accepts JPG, PNG and WebP. Where it loses: it is a prompt-based editor rather than a curated library, and it does no color season or face shape analysis. A third-party roundup said saving the result may need an account, which we did not check.

faceshapedetector.app

This site detects your face shape, then draws matching hairstyles or glasses over your photo. It says everything runs on your device and nothing is uploaded, and that it is free forever with no sign-up. Where it wins: it is the only tool here that is entirely free and private by design, and it also offers a Kibbe body-type quiz. Where it loses: the site says its hairstyles are an overlay rather than photorealistic AI rendering, by choice, to stay free. We did not see a color season analysis there.

aicoloranalysis.io (Belle AI)

This is a web tool for a 12-season color analysis. You get 3 free previews with the details blurred. Full reports come with a subscription ($1.99 for the first week, then $3.99 a week, or $29.99 a year) or a $2.99 pack of 10 credits, which works out at $0.30 per report. Where it wins: the credit pack is the cheapest way here to buy a color report once. Where it loses: the subscription renews weekly, which many people want to avoid. It offers 12 seasons, while SelfieHue and Harmony use a 16-season model, and we did not check whether it offers a hairstyle try-on.

Best for

  • One photo, three answers, in a browser: SelfieHue.
  • Everything in a native app, including makeup and outfits: Get The Look.
  • A free hairstyle overlay that never leaves your device: faceshapedetector.app.
  • A one-time purchase for a color report on iPhone: Harmony.
  • The cheapest single color report on the web: aicoloranalysis.io.
  • A free hair color preview without an account: Krea.
  • A trusted, established mobile editor: YouCam Makeup.

AI color analysis or an in-person session?

An in-person analysis with real drapes costs about $150 to $500 and is still the most precise option. The tools above are a cheap first read. Lighting changes every result, so photograph yourself near a window and compare two photos. None of the tools here has published an accuracy study that we could find, and neither have we.

What happens to your photo

Face photos are sensitive, so ask each tool three questions: is it uploaded, is it stored, and can you delete it? Of the eight, faceshapedetector.app says nothing leaves your device. SelfieHue measures the color analysis and face shape in your browser, sends a try-on photo to an image model only when you press Generate without storing it, and deletes the result after 24 hours. Harmony says your selfie is sent to analysis providers. For the rest we did not read a clear statement. Read each tool's privacy policy before you upload.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI app for color analysis and hairstyle try-on in 2026?

It depends on where you want to use it. For one website that does color season, face shape and hairstyle, hair color and beard previews, SelfieHue. For a native app that also does makeup and outfits, Get The Look. For something completely free, faceshapedetector.app. We are the authors of this page and one of the tools, so check the details yourself.

Is there a free AI hairstyle try-on with no app download?

Yes. faceshapedetector.app and Krea both say they are free with no sign-up. SelfieHue gives 2 free previews a day with no account. All three run in a browser.

Are AI color analysis apps accurate?

They give a reasonable first read in good daylight. Results shift with lighting and camera settings, and none of the tools we read publishes an accuracy study. A session with a professional is still more precise.

Which AI color analysis tool is cheapest?

To buy one report, aicoloranalysis.io's 10-credit pack at $2.99 is $0.30 a report. For a one-time iPhone purchase, Harmony is $14.99. SelfieHue's color analysis preview is free and the full report is 10 credits, which is $1 at the $4.99 pack of 50 credits.

Which tools avoid weekly subscriptions?

Harmony has a one-time unlock, SelfieHue sells credit packs that never expire, and aicoloranalysis.io sells a one-time credit pack. aicoloranalysis.io also has a weekly subscription, so read the plan before you pay.

Do these tools store my photo?

It varies. faceshapedetector.app says nothing is uploaded. SelfieHue does not store a try-on photo and deletes generated images after 24 hours. Harmony says your selfie is sent to analysis providers. Check each privacy policy.
